About me
Ella Ralston is thrilled to finally be living on Ocracoke and contributing to this year’s Earth Day Celebration! From birth, Ella has been living an eco-friendly lifestyle. She was raised as a vegetarian in a passive solar house, heated by a wood-burning stove and a central chimney. Her family had a garden and fruit trees where they grew some of their own food, while her mother owned a small natural food store to supplement their diet. Also, a lifelong poet and thespian, Ella graduated from Florida State University with a BA in theater in 2003. The past 20+ years have been a magical journey of teaching theatre to various groups of children and adults, writing and performing her own unique style of Spokenword, MCing a range of events from Hip Hop shows to Ocrafolk Festivals, and exploring many other creative outlets, such as jewelry making and visual art. Ella is excited to merge her creative side with her love of nature and conservation by presenting a trash to treasure station for all to enjoy. Check the schedule and stop by the library on Saturday and/or Sunday to repurpose, reuse, and create something new out of someone else’s old items. Bring something of your own or use what others have already donated. Be sure to stick around for the Trashion Show to see all the treasures created over the weekend.
